PLB
Personal Locator Beacon: a device that, when activated, sends a distress signal with your location to search and rescue via satellite.
In the wild
"Hire a PLB for the remote section."
Why it matters
In remote areas without phone reception, a registered PLB can be life-saving. In Australia, register it with AMSA.
Safety: Only activate in genuine life-threatening emergencies.
