Freestanding Tent
A tent whose basic structure holds its shape using its own poles, without needing stakes.
In the wild
"Freestanding tents are handy on rock platforms."
Why it matters
Freestanding doesn't mean anchoring is optional. In wind, an unstaked tent can blow away or collapse.
