Yacaaba Headland walking track
Port Stephens, NSW
A hard 7 km return climb from Bennetts Beach up Port Stephens' northern headland — Seal Rocks, Tomaree and Gould's petrel island in view.
About this place
Yacaaba Headland walking track is a Grade 4, 7 km return walk (2.5–3.5 hours) in the southern reaches of Myall Lakes National Park. From the southern end of Bennetts Beach the track climbs steeply through angophora, banksia and grass trees. NPWS notes views to Barrington Tops on a clear day, then a rockier ridge with Seal Rocks, Tomaree Headland and Cabbage Tree Island (John Gould Nature Reserve), the only known breeding colony of Gould's petrel. Rocks on the steep sections can be very slippery.
