Woody Head campground
North Coast, NSW
A large beachfront campground in Bundjalung National Park near Iluka, with a sheltered swimming beach, boat ramp and rainforest behind the dunes.
About this place
Woody Head campground is one of the flagship north-coast NPWS camps: 91 sites for tents, camper trailers and caravans at 92 Woody Head Road, with a protected sandy beach, boat ramp, barbecues, showers, drinking water and a seasonal kiosk. The rock platform and rainforest edges are the daytime exploration; Iluka Bluff lookout is a short drive. It is the practical Bundjalung overnight if you are heading between Yamba/Iluka and Ballina. Book well ahead for school holidays. Park entry is included in the camping booking in current NPWS practice — confirm when you book.
Access & getting there
From the Pacific Highway take Iluka Road, then Woody Head Road. About 50–60 minutes south of Ballina. Book online. Maximum stay limits apply in school holidays.

Safety notes
Swim on the sheltered beach, not the exposed rock platforms in swell. Bring a fuel stove as backup.
Gear notes
Fuel stove, insect repellent, fishing gear if licensed.
