Wonga Walk
New England, NSW
Dorrigo's classic 6.6 km rainforest loop past Crystal Shower and Tristania Falls, with a chance to walk behind the water.
About this place
Wonga Walk is one of the most popular day walks in Dorrigo National Park, a 6.6 km loop from the Rainforest Centre (or 5.8 km from The Glade) through World Heritage subtropical rainforest. You pass 600-year-old trees, fungi and strangler figs, then Crystal Shower Falls — where a spur and suspension bridge let you stand in a cavern behind the veil — and cascading Tristania Falls. The track is shaded and mostly formed, with some steeper grades, steps and boulder crossings. Start at the Rainforest Centre, take Lyrebird Link 400 m, and check current alerts: the Link ramp has at times used a steep detour unsuitable for prams.
Access & getting there
From Waterfall Way 1-2 km south of Dorrigo township, turn into Dome Road and continue about 1.6 km. Gold-coin donation for the centre and Skywalk. Canopy Cafe is currently closed — bring food and water. Centre hours June-August 9 am-3:30 pm, September-May 9 am-4:30 pm.
Dorrigo Rainforest Centre, 142 Dome Rd, Dorrigo Mountain NSW 2453
Safety notes
Leeches and slippery rocks after rain. Check NPWS alerts for Lyrebird Link and centre relocation works. Stay on the track at waterfall edges.
Gear notes
