Wollomombi Falls
New England, NSW
One of Australia's largest waterfall drops — 240 m into the Macleay gorges on Waterfall Way east of Armidale.
About this place
Wollomombi Main Falls lookout in Oxley Wild Rivers National Park is a 200 m walk from the picnic area through stringybark and blackbutt to a large platform over the gorge. Wollomombi Falls drop about 240 m where the Chandler and Wollomombi rivers meet, among the biggest waterfall drops in Australia, with dry rainforest pockets on the gorge walls and wedge-tailed eagles on the thermals. It is a highlight of Waterfall Way and World Heritage gorge country. Pair it with Chandler walking track and Checks lookout if you want more edge-of-escarpment views.
