Wedding Cake Rock
Sutherland Shire, NSW
Fragile white sandstone slab on the Coast Track south of Bundeena — view from behind the fence; do not stand on the rock.
About this place
Wedding Cake Rock is a layered white sandstone formation about an hour's walk south of Bundeena on the Coast Track. Iron leaching makes it dangerously soft and undercut; NPWS fenced it after geotechnical surveys. The lookout remains open: walk the track and photograph it from behind the fence. Standing or sitting on the rock or cliff edges is illegal and extremely dangerous. Allow at least 1 hour each way from Beachcomber Avenue. Rough, often steep and rocky. Closed on total fire ban days. Track works sometimes run between here and Big Marley. Wikipedia coordinates 34.109667°S 151.152417°E.
Access & getting there
Start at Beachcomber Avenue, Bundeena, or ferry Cronulla–Bundeena then walk. Stay behind the fence. $12 if parking inside the park; Bundeena streets are outside the fee zone.
