Walls of China sunset
Mungo, NSW
NPWS flags this lunette platform as a magnificent sunrise and sunset — the Walls of China glowing across dry Lake Mungo.
About this place
The Walls of China viewing platform is where independent visitors watch the lunette change colour at dusk; NPWS describes it as a magnificent sight at sunrise or sunset. Stay on the wheelchair-accessible boardwalk, then drive back to Mungo Visitor Centre or Main campground before dark — the self-guided loop is unsealed with no lighting. Book an Aboriginal-guided lunette tour if you want to walk the formations; independent access onto the lunette is not allowed.
Access & getting there
Same boardwalk as the viewing platform. Allow extra time to return on unsealed roads after dusk. Carry a torch. Park entry $8. Dry-weather 2WD; closed after rain. No camping at the platform.
