Sphinx Memorial to Bobbin Head Loop Track
Upper North Shore, NSW
Classic 10km Bobbin Head loop from the sandstone Sphinx memorial down to Cowan Creek, Empire Marina and the mangrove foreshore.
About this place
Start at the Sphinx Memorial, carved from sandstone by a returned WWI soldier, just inside the North Turramurra gates. The 10km loop follows Bobbin Head trail through smooth-barked apple and red bloodwood to Empire Marina and historic Halvorsen's boatshed, then Bobbin Head picnic area. Return on Warrimoo track along Cowan Creek and climb Sphinx Track back to the memorial. Toilets and food are at Bobbin Head. The Empire Marina gate onto the walking track closes at 4pm for entry — plan the loop so you are not locked out of Warimoo or Bobbin Head trail.
Access & getting there
Bobbin Head Road to the North Turramurra entrance, then right onto Sphinx Road to the end. Parking at the memorial. Sphinx carpark gates close from 7pm. Park entry $12 per vehicle. Bus to North Turramurra then a walk in.
