Russells Needle
Southern Highlands, NSW
A dramatic sandstone spire deep in Nattai National Park — a serious overnight adventure for experienced bushwalkers.
About this place
Russells Needle is one of NSW's most striking natural features — a towering sandstone monolith rising from the Nattai wilderness. Getting there requires an overnight trip with solid navigation and bushcraft skills. The approach typically involves crossing the Nattai River (which may require swimming) and a full day of off-track travel through dense bush. A truly wild and remote experience that rewards those who make the effort with jaw-dropping scenery. A Hikezilla favourite.
