Ruined Castle Walking Track
Blue Mountains, NSW
A hard 6.6 km return from Golden Stairs to a jagged rock castle in the middle of Jamison Valley.
About this place
NPWS rates Ruined Castle walking track hard: 6.6 km return, 4 to 5 hours, from the Golden Stairs into rainforest of coachwood and sassafras along an old mining route with cottage ruins, then a scramble onto the rock formation. Views reach Wentworth Falls and Katoomba. Glenraphael Drive (Narrow Neck) is closed to vehicles near Cliff Drive because of subsidence; walkers and cyclists may still reach the trackhead. Fill a trip intention form and consider a free PLB from Blue Mountains Heritage Centre.
Access & getting there
No vehicle access to Golden Stairs while Glenraphael Drive is closed near Cliff Drive; walk or cycle from the closure. Federal Pass links have had bridge-works closures. This is not the Narrow Neck Firetrail itself.

Safety notes
Steep, remote-feeling valley walk with a scramble. Extra walking if the fire trail is closed to cars. Carry water, map or GPS and tell someone your plans.
Gear notes
Drinking water, hat, sunscreen, compass or GPS, topographic map. PLB recommended.
