Protesters Falls walking track

North Coast, NSW

A 1.4 km return Nightcap rainforest walk to Protesters Falls, named for the Terania Creek protests that helped save this World Heritage forest.

About this place

Protesters Falls walking track (NPWS spelling) in Nightcap National Park is the extra to already-listed Minyon Falls: a short, family-friendly walk through Gondwana rainforest on Terania Creek. NPWS lists 1.4 km return, 1–1.5 hours, with boardwalk sections. Interpretive sculptures at the start tell the late-1970s Terania Creek protest story. The track passes bangalow palm, native tamarind, yellow carabeen and strangler figs; threatened frogs live in the creek beds — stay out of the water. Picnic at Terania Creek picnic area. The falls area can close after heavy rain due to flash flooding.

Access & getting there

Unsealed Terania Creek Road from The Channon. Not suitable after heavy rain. No park entry fee listed on the walk page; check current NPWS alerts for closures.
