Point Perpendicular lookout
Jervis Bay, NSW
The 1899 lighthouse on Beecroft Peninsula — 90 m cliffs at the northern head of Jervis Bay, open when Defence allows.
About this place
Point Perpendicular Light marks the northern entrance to Jervis Bay from the tip of Beecroft Peninsula (Bundarwa), about 10 km from the Currarong gate. The historic concrete-block lighthouse is closed inside but the grounds sit roughly 90 m above the sea — a superb whale, seal and sea-eagle lookout. Access is controlled by the Department of Defence Beecroft Weapons Range and is typically weekends, Friday afternoons and NSW school holidays only; gunnery and wet weather close the gravel road at short notice. Call 02 4448 3411 before you go.
Access & getting there
Confirm range opening on 02 4448 3411 before travelling. Usually Friday afternoon, Saturday, Sunday and NSW school holidays. Lighthouse interior is not open to the public. Gravel road can close after rain.
Lighthouse Rd, Currarong NSW 2540 (Beecroft Weapons Range)
