Pinnacle walk and lookout
North Coast, NSW
A 600 m return rainforest walk in Border Ranges National Park to a platform looking at Wollumbin, the Tweed caldera and the coast.
About this place
Pinnacle walk and lookout is the signature short walk of World Heritage Border Ranges National Park. NPWS lists 0.6 km return, 30–45 minutes, on a hard-packed track with concrete steps and a fibreglass walkway to a timber lookout. The view takes in the crater escarpment, Wollumbin (Mount Warning) and the Tweed Valley to the sea. Sunrise here is famous. Access is via Tweed Range Scenic Drive (gravel; can be rough after summer rain). Park at the Pinnacle walk carpark. Park entry fees apply.
Access & getting there
From Kyogle take Williams Road then Creegan Road / Tweed Range Scenic Drive about 23 km to the Pinnacle walk. 2WD in dry weather; take care after heavy rain December–May.
