Pigeon House Mountain Didthul walking track
South Coast, NSW
A steep 7.1 km return with ladders to the 720 m sandstone summit of Didthul, looking from Jervis Bay to Bermagui.
About this place
Pigeon House Mountain Didthul walking track in southern Morton National Park is one of the south coast's signature day hikes: 7.1 km return, about 2.5-3.5 hours, through forest and heath to a series of steel ladders up the remnant sandstone peak (720 m). From the top you look over Clyde River gorges in the Budawang Wilderness; on clear days Jervis Bay and Bermagui come into view, and lyrebirds and rare Pigeon House Ash eucalypts share the last pitch. Walk it in dry weather — the ladders and rock are slippery when wet. Start at the picnic area off Yadboro Road west of Milton.
Access & getting there
From Milton turn off Princes Highway following Pigeon House signs along Croobyar, Woodstock and Yadboro roads. Gravel sections can bog after rain; 2WD in the dry. Parking beside the picnic area at the trailhead. Park entry fees apply at Fitzroy Falls and Bundanoon precincts of Morton, not at this carpark.
