Peery Lake picnic area
Paroo-Darling, NSW
Day-use picnic stop in northern Paroo-Darling NP, 33 km from White Cliffs — waterbirds when the lake holds water.
About this place
Peery Lake picnic area is in the northern section of Paroo-Darling National Park, the arid Paroo overflow around Peery and Poloko lakes. NPWS access is 33 km from White Cliffs via White Cliffs Mandalay Road (SR6) then left onto Wilcannia-Wanaaring Road. When the lake is full it can hold water for years and becomes a major waterbird site on the only substantially unregulated river in the Murray-Darling Basin. Northern section is day-use; camping is at Coach and Horses in the south. Dry-weather roads only.
