Paroo-Darling Visitor Centre White Cliffs
Far West, NSW
Unstaffed NPWS stop in White Cliffs with maps, picnic shade and the practical gateway to Paroo-Darling and Peery Lake.
About this place
Paroo-Darling Visitor Centre at 2 Johnston Street, White Cliffs is the NPWS information and picnic stop before remote Paroo-Darling National Park. It is unstaffed, stocked with maps, and listed Monday–Friday 8:30 am–4:30 pm (some weekends). Use it to check outback safety and road conditions — park roads become impassable after rain — then continue to Peery Lake or Coach and Horses campground. White Cliffs itself is an opal field with a separate 4 km heritage trail map from the caravan park.
Access & getting there
Sealed road from Wilcannia (~95 km). Fuel and supplies are limited in White Cliffs. Unstaffed NPWS centre — still pick up maps before Peery Lake. Opal-field fossicking is separate and has mine-shaft hazards.
2 Johnston Street, White Cliffs NSW 2836
