Mungo lookout
Mungo, NSW
West-side desert lookout across the ice-age lakebed toward the distant Walls of China, near Main campground.
About this place
Mungo lookout sits on the western side of the park, not on the lunette boardwalk, and gazes across the dry lakebed toward the Walls of China. NPWS notes megafauna fossils and artefacts of the Ngyiampaa, Mutthi Muthi and Paakantyi people have been uncovered by erosion here. Combine it with the nearby Grasslands Nature trail and a picnic at Main campground. Dusk is especially atmospheric.
Access & getting there
