Moonee Beach
North Coast, NSW
A long north-of-Coffs surf beach beside Moonee Beach Nature Reserve, with estuary, picnic area and a village behind the dunes.
About this place
Moonee Beach sits about 15 minutes north of Coffs Harbour, backed by Moonee Beach Nature Reserve rather than high-rise. The beach is a long, open stretch used by surfers and walkers; the creek and picnic area behind the dunes are the family zone. It is a quieter Coffs-coast alternative to the jetty beaches and a logical stop on the way to Red Rock and Yuraygir. The nature reserve protects coastal floodplain and rainforest remnants — stay on tracks if you walk inland.
Access & getting there
Turn off the Pacific Highway at Moonee Beach. Parking at the picnic area / surf access. Village cafes a short walk.
Moonee Beach Road, Moonee Beach NSW 2450
Safety notes
Often unpatrolled. Open-ocean rips. Swim only if conditions are clearly safe, preferably when lifeguards are on duty.
