Merimbula Boardwalk
South Coast, NSW
3.4 km return lakeside boardwalk through mangroves and oyster leases, famous for sunsets, a resident seal, and a kiosk at the western end.
About this place
NSW Government lists Merimbula Boardwalk as an approximately 3.4 km return, 1.5 hour lakeside walk from Market Street beside Merimbula Bridge or from Lakewood Drive at the back of the lake. The timber path threads mangrove, eucalypt canopy and oyster farms, with seats and jetties. A resident seal is often seen around the leases. Foot traffic only; no bikes. It is dog-friendly on leash and suitable for wheelchairs when open. Sunny's Kiosk at the western end serves coffee and hires boats and kayaks. Bega Valley Shire Council has staged upgrade works through 2026 with section closures and the Market Street carpark shut during construction - check council alerts before you go.
