Manly Beach

Northern Beaches, NSW

Sydney's northern icon — best reached by ferry, loved for surf, the Manly to Shelly Beach walk, and its relaxed village vibe.

About this place

Manly Beach is everything great about Sydney beach culture. The 1.5km surf beach is patrolled year-round and backed by Norfolk Island pines. Getting there by ferry from Circular Quay is half the experience — the 30-minute harbour crossing delivers some of Sydney's best views. From Manly, the coastal walk to Shelly Beach is a scenic 2km stroll, while the Manly to Spit Bridge walk (10km) is one of Sydney's best urban hikes.

Safety notes

Swim between the flags. The southern end near Fairy Bower has rockier conditions — not recommended for swimming.
