Lightning Ridge Artesian Bore Baths
Lightning Ridge, NSW
Free outdoor 24-hour-style mineral baths fed by the Great Artesian Basin on the edge of Lightning Ridge.
About this place
Lightning Ridge’s artesian bore baths are a public outdoor soak fed by Llanillo Bore No. II from the Great Artesian Basin, with water around 41°C. Local tourism describes them as free and open most of the day and night (commonly quoted as about 22 hours). OSM maps the baths on Shermans Way. They are the classic post-opal-field wind-down, not a hike. Shower and change if facilities are open; do not drink the water. No camping in the baths precinct.
Access & getting there
In town; sealed streets, 2WD. Free. Open most hours — confirm current hours at Lightning Ridge Visitor Information Centre. No park permit. Do not camp at the baths. Bring a towel and water shoes if you have them.
