Light to Light Walk
South Coast, NSW
A 32 km, three-day coastal traverse from Boyds Tower to Green Cape Lighthouse through Beowa National Park.
About this place
The Light to Light Walk is one of the NSW Great Walks: 32 km one-way Grade 4 from historic Boyds Tower to Green Cape Lightstation in Beowa National Park (formerly Ben Boyd), south of Eden. The route follows red rock platforms, heath and secluded beaches on Yuin Country, with purpose-built hike-in platforms at Mowarry Point and Hegartys Bay that must be booked. Typical split is three days (about 9 km, 10 km, 13 km). Plan tides and creek wades, treat water, and arrange a car shuffle or transfer from Eden or Merimbula. Whales, seals and sea eagles are part of the coast.
Access & getting there
Start at Boyds Tower, finish at Green Cape. Book Mowarry Point and Hegartys Bay platforms via NPWS. Park at either end and organise a shuttle. Optional vehicle campgrounds at Saltwater Creek and Bittangabee Bay for alternative itineraries.
Boyds Tower carpark, Beowa National Park, Edrom NSW 2551 (south of Eden)
Safety notes
Tide creek wades, limited mobile coverage, strong swell on rock platforms. Carry a PLB. Do not treat this as a long day walk from Eden.
Gear notes
Full overnight pack, water treatment, tide tables, guy ropes for platforms, and warm layers for Green Cape winds.
