Blue Mountains City Council has reopened the upper Leura Cascades Recreational Precinct after upgrades, with improved access and community facilities beside Leura Falls Creek. The cascades are a classic short waterfall stop between Leura and Katoomba, linking Prince Henry Cliff Walk and Bridal Veil Lookout. NPWS notes Fern Bower is closed for repairs between Amphitheatre track and Leura Forest until 30 October, with no access from Leura Cascades to Federal Pass that way. Use Prince Henry Cliff Walk as the detour.
Access & getting there
Cliff Drive between Leura and Katoomba. Upper precinct is open. Fern Bower to Federal Pass is closed until 30 October 2026. Train to Leura then a walk or local bus.

Wet rock and creek edges. Stay on formed tracks. Do not use closed Fern Bower / Federal Pass access.
