Lane Cove weir
Lane Cove National Park, NSW
The historic weir and main picnic spine of Lane Cove National Park — boatshed, lawns and the easy start of the river walks.
About this place
Lane Cove weir sits on the Lane Cove River at Lindfield, beside Max Allen Road and the cluster of NPWS picnic flats (Cottonwood Glen, Illoura, Koonjeree and others). It is the park's social centre: rowboats from Lane Cove Boatshed, barbecues, the Great North Walk and Riverside walking track, and the park office at 2 Max Allen Road. The weir itself is a heritage structure holding back a calm reach used for paddling. Come for a picnic rather than a summit; use it as the trailhead for Fairyland, Fiddens Wharf or a GNW section toward Thornleigh. Vehicle entry fees apply; the park closes in the evening.
Access & getting there
Enter via Lady Game Drive / Max Allen Road. Park entry fees. Open 9am–7pm daylight saving, 9am–6pm otherwise. Park office 02 8448 0400. No dogs. Boatshed hire on site.
