Karloo Walking Track
Royal National Park, NSW
Heathcote station to Karloo Pool and on to Uloola Falls — the classic Royal/Heathcote freshwater swim walk.
About this place
Karloo walking track is the Heathcote leftover: a Grade 3, 10km return from Heathcote station through heath and 'whaleback' sandstone to Karloo Pool, then on to Uloola Falls and the campground. Most people swim at the pool and turn around; continuing to the falls adds turrets of rock and a proper waterfall lunch spot. Return the same way or link Uloola walking track to Waterfall station. Toilets at the station and Uloola Falls campground. Train in, so skip the Royal traffic jams.
Access & getting there
Train to Heathcote or park at the station. Walk southeast on Wilson Parade; the track is signposted shortly after the emergency services centre. No park vehicle entry if you arrive by train. Summer is the swim season.
Heathcote Station, Wilson Pde, Heathcote NSW 2233 (track signposted southeast along Wilson Parade past the emergency services centre)
Safety notes
Rock platforms around the pool are slippery. No lifeguards. Flash flooding after rain. Limited mobile coverage. Snakes in warm months.
Gear notes
Swim kit, 2 litres of water, shoes with grip. Treat any creek water.
