Jerusalem Bay track (Great North Walk, Cowan to Brooklyn)

Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, NSW

The classic Great North Walk day section — 11km from Cowan station down to Jerusalem Bay and over the ridges to Brooklyn.

About this place

NPWS lists this as Great North Walk – Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park: a Grade 4, 11km one-way walk, 4.5–5.5 hours, from Cowan station to Hawkesbury River station at Brooklyn. The track drops steeply to the ruins of Rhodes boatshed and Jerusalem Bay on Cowan Water, then climbs hard toward Brooklyn. Most walkers go Cowan to Brooklyn so the train does the return; the opposite direction is steeper. The track can be boggy after rain. Link south to the Berowra Valley GNW or north into Brisbane Water National Park. Toilets at both stations and in Brooklyn village.

Access & getting there

Train to Cowan (Central Coast & Newcastle line). Finish at Hawkesbury River station, Brooklyn, via William Street. Parking at both stations. Park entry fees apply in the national park. Fill in a trip intention form. No dogs.

Safety notes
