Homestead Gorge walking track
Far West, NSW
A 7.5 km return creek-and-cliff walk past Aboriginal engravings to a rockhole in Mutawintji’s Bynguano Range.
About this place
Homestead Gorge walking track follows Homestead Creek between red rocky cliffs that shelter ancient Aboriginal rock engravings, with wallabies, emus and birds often on the trail. NPWS lists 7.5 km return (2.5–3.5 hours) on red markers. After rain a large rockhole can sit at the end; Rockholes Loop is a steep optional extension. This is not the restricted Historic Site tour.
Access & getting there
Start from the Homestead Creek precinct. Unsealed access from Broken Hill; roads close after rain. Bring all drinking water. Check Broken Hill NPWS before travel.
