Historic Nightcap walking track
North Coast, NSW
An 18km Grade 4 rainforest traverse on the old Lismore–Murwillumbah postal route, overnight at Rummery Park.
About this place
Historic Nightcap walking track is the Nightcap extra besides Minyon Falls: 18km one-way, Grade 4, 1-2 days through World Heritage rainforest in Nightcap National Park and Whian Whian State Conservation Area. NPWS says west to east is easier, with camping at Rummery Park. Sections were used by travellers and postal workers in the 1800s and 1900s. Expect rock orchids, Albert's lyrebird and long-nosed potoroo country. Start from Mount Nardi carpark or the eastern end. Experienced bushwalkers only; very steep, no steps listed, signposted.
Access & getting there
