Hare Point walking track

Jervis Bay, NSW

A hard 6km return dune and sand-forest walk from Red Point to Carama Inlet on northern Jervis Bay.

About this place

Hare Point walking track is a genuine Jervis Bay National Park extra away from Hyams and White Sands. NPWS lists 6km return, Grade 5, 2 hours 30 minutes to 3 hours, from Red Point picnic area through sand forest and dunes to Carama Inlet on the northern shores. It is graded difficult because there is no directional signage — navigation matters. Access is via Currarong: off Princes Highway at Forest Road toward Currarong, then a dirt road about 2.3km to the picnic area. Bring water, insect repellent and binoculars. Not a casual family stroll.

Access & getting there

Northern precinct of Jervis Bay National Park. From Nowra travel south on Princes Highway, left at Forest Road toward Currarong. About 2.5km along Currarong Road take the dirt road on the right for about 2.3km to the picnic area. No directional signage on the walk.
