Guthega
Snowy Mountains, NSW
A small Perisher Range ski village on Guthega Road, a snow and walking access point above the Snowy River.
About this place
Guthega is a ski-resort village in Kosciuszko National Park, about 40 minutes from Jindabyne, linked with Perisher, Blue Cow and Smiggin Holes. Visit NSW describes tree-lined intermediate ski slopes, private lodges and Guthega Inn. In winter, Guthega in-resort roads are closed to general traffic from the June to October long weekends except oversnow vehicles; snow chains are compulsory for 2WD on Guthega Road. In summer it is the trailhead for Illawong walk and the Guthega to Charlotte Pass section of the Snowies Alpine Walk. Nearby Guthega Dam sits at the start of the Snowy River hydro scheme. Park entry fees apply.
Access & getting there
From Jindabyne take Kosciuszko Road, then Guthega Road (sealed to the power station, then unsealed to the village). Winter: chains for 2WD; village roads oversnow only. Check NPWS alerts for Guthega Track Head construction.
