Grand Canyon Track
Blue Mountains, NSW
A historic 6.3 km canyon loop from Blackheath through waterfalls, ferns and sandstone walls.
About this place
NSW National Parks lists Grand Canyon Track as a 6.3 km loop (3-4 hours) from Grand Canyon carpark near Blackheath, following Greaves Creek through a World Heritage canyon walkers have used since 1907. The well-shaded descent drops from banksia heath into rainforest ferns and multiple small waterfalls, then climbs out toward Evans Lookout. Never enter the canyon before, during or after heavy rain; the creek can flood. Comfortable walking shoes are enough - this walking track is not a technical abseil canyon.
Access & getting there
Start at Grand Canyon carpark off Evans Lookout Road. Evans Lookout remains a common finish. Check NPWS alerts; nearby Govetts descent and parts of Rodriguez Pass have had rockfall closures. No dogs.
