Glow Worm Glen walking track
Southern Highlands, NSW
A 2 km return after-dark walk from William Street, Bundanoon, to a glow-worm viewing platform in Morton National Park.
About this place
Wingecarribee Shire Council and NPWS describe Glow Worm Glen as a 2 km return walk (about 1 hour plus viewing time) from the end of William Street, Bundanoon, descending into Morton National Park to a reconstructed viewing platform. The track, stairs and platform were rebuilt after 2019-20 bushfire damage and reopened in 2023. Best glow-worm viewing is after dark, especially December to February. Bring a torch for the walk but switch it off at the glen. Dogs are not allowed (national park). Park on William Street, not at the cul-de-sac trailhead (no stopping). The return is a steep climb.
Access & getting there
Park further up William Street, not at the dead-end trailhead. Walk downhill on stairs and formed track to the platform. No dedicated carpark. Residential street; park considerately.
End of William Street, Bundanoon NSW 2578 (trailhead into Morton National Park)
Safety notes
Pitch dark after sunset. Steep stairs can be slippery. Watch for leeches. Keep torches off at the platform. Supervise children.
Gear notes
Torch or headlamp, closed-toe shoes, warm layer, insect repellent.
