Gloucester River campground

Barrington Tops, NSW

Riverside family camping on the eastern edge of Barrington Tops — 30 sites, swimming holes and short walks.

About this place

Gloucester River campground and picnic area sits among trees beside the river in Barrington Tops National Park, with 30 unpowered sites for tents, camper trailers and caravans. It is one of the easiest Barrington camps for families: grassy flats, river swimming, barbecues and picnic tables, plus Sharpes Creek and Gloucester River walking tracks. Access is 2WD via unsealed Gloucester Tops Road, but river crossings can become impassable after rain. Book online; bring drinking water and firewood.

Access & getting there

Unsealed road with river crossings. Book NPWS campsites in advance. Not a winter 4WD-only plateau camp — this is the easy eastern approach.

2804 Gloucester Tops Rd, Invergordon NSW 2422, Barrington Tops National Park

Safety notes

River can rise quickly after rain. No drinking water supplied. Check park alerts before driving the crossings.

Gear notes

Drinking and cooking water, firewood, and a spare day in case the road floods.
