Gloucester Falls walking track

Barrington Tops, NSW

A short 1.8 km family loop through snow gums to lookouts over Gloucester Falls and the gorge in Barrington Tops.

About this place

Gloucester Falls walking track is the easy introduction to the Gloucester Tops precinct of Barrington Tops National Park. From the picnic area the 1.8 km loop threads sub-alpine snow gum woodland to Andrew Laurie lookout, with views over the Gloucester River and the Mountaineer, then a second lookout over the twin drops of Gloucester Falls plunging off the plateau. After rain the falls are loud; in winter the tops can be bitter. Combine it with Antarctic beech forest walks nearby, then drop down to Gloucester River for a swim or camp.

Access & getting there

From Bucketts Way between Gloucester and Stroud, take Gloucester Tops Road, continue past Gloucester River (about 40 minutes), then left to Gloucester Tops picnic area and on to Gloucester Falls picnic area. Unsealed sections; river crossings can close after rain.

Gear notes

Warm layer even in summer. Drinking water — none on the tops.
