Girrakool loop track
Central Coast, NSW
A short 2 km family loop in Brisbane Water National Park past Aboriginal engravings, Illoura lookout and waterfall views.
About this place
Girrakool loop track is the easy introduction to Brisbane Water National Park, starting and finishing at Girrakool picnic area near Somersby. NPWS lists it as 2 km, 30 minutes to 1 hour. Do not walk on the Aboriginal rock engraving site at the start. The formed track drops through bush to Illoura lookout and the shady waterfall at Andamira lookout, with wildflowers in late winter and early spring. The picnic area has barbecues, toilets and water; the carpark is locked at 6 pm (8 pm in daylight saving) and reopens at 7 am. Park entry fees apply. Piles Creek loop and the Great North Walk continue further if you want a harder day.
