Gibberagong Walking Track
Upper North Shore, NSW
8.3km return from Bobbin Head along Cockle Creek mangroves to a bush waterhole — one of Ku-ring-gai's best wildlife walks.
About this place
Gibberagong starts at Bobbin Head and follows Cockle Creek through saltwater wetlands on a boardwalk of grey mangroves — herons, spoonbills, ibis and the odd azure kingfisher. The formed track then winds through bush, crossing the creek several times to a large waterhole. Return the same way and eat at Bobbin Head. It is a genuine nature day trip an hour from the city, and a good contrast to the West Head clifftop walks.
