Figure 8 Pool
Royal National Park, NSW
A naturally-carved figure-eight rock pool on the Royal National Park coastline — one of Sydney's most photogenic destinations.
About this place
The Figure 8 Pool is a naturally-carved rock formation on the remote coastline of the Royal National Park. The pools take their shape from millennia of wave action sculpting the sandstone into two connected circular basins. Getting there requires a 15.7km return hike from Otford, traversing stunning coastal clifftops. Visit only when conditions are safe — the area is exposed to ocean swells and can be dangerous. Always check the National Parks NSW website for current access conditions before visiting.
