Fairyland walking track
Lane Cove National Park, NSW
A hidden Lane Cove River walk from Chatswood West — remnant rainforest, old picnic ruins and a quiet back-door into the national park.
About this place
Fairyland Track drops from Chatswood West into Lane Cove National Park on the southern bank of the river, opposite the main Max Allen Road picnic strip. The name comes from Fairyland, a 20th-century pleasure ground and orchard picnic spot whose ruins and exotic plantings still sit in the gully. The bush track links residential streets to the river flats and the Great North Walk; it is a locals' alternative to driving the park entrance. OSM maps the track through Lane Cove National Park at Fairyland. Expect steep, narrow path, river views and a sense of the valley that the weir picnic areas only hint at. No dogs in the national park.
Access & getting there
Street access from Chatswood West; also reachable from the river and Great North Walk. Park hours 9am–7pm daylight saving, 9am–6pm otherwise. Park entry fees if you drive the main park roads. No dogs.
