Emu Lake campground
Far West, NSW
Sandy-plains Kinchega camp beside Emu Lake, a short hop from the historic woolshed and Shearers’ Quarters showers.
About this place
Emu Lake campground is a different Kinchega overnight to Darling River campground: it sits amid sandy plains close to Kinchega Woolshed and the Shearers’ Quarters (hot showers and bore water). NPWS flags emus, birdlife and evening sunsets. It is a true bush camp — bring drinking water — and a practical base for the woolshed, homestead billabong walk and Menindee Lakes. Park entry $8 pay-and-display coins; book with NPWS. Not a duplicate of the riverside Darling River sites.
Access & getting there
Via Menindee and unsealed park roads. Park entry $8 coins. Book NPWS. Distinct from Darling River campground on River Drive. No dogs. Remote — arrive prepared.
Emu Lake campground, Kinchega National Park, near Kinchega Woolshed, Menindee NSW 2879
Safety notes
Remote. Extreme heat. Unsealed roads after rain. Carry drinking water even though bore water is nearby.
Gear notes
Drinking water, shade, insect repellent, coins for park entry.
