Dangar Falls
New England, NSW
A 30-metre cascade two kilometres north of Dorrigo township — lookout, picnic lawn and a walk to the swimming hole below.
About this place
Dangar Falls on the Bielsdown River is Dorrigo's local waterfall, a 30 m cascade set among dairy country just off town. A viewing platform beside the carpark frames the drop, with picnic tables, a playground and a paved labyrinth nearby, plus a 2.1 km footpath linking to Dorrigo. A walking trail leads to the river at the base where people swim after rain — the falls are spectacular then, and quieter in dry spells. Do not jump from the top: there have been fatal accidents despite warning signs. Not to be confused with Dangars Falls in Oxley Wild Rivers near Armidale.
Access & getting there
Signposted from Dorrigo town centre, about 2 km north. Accessible parking and viewing rails at seated height. Dogs on leash permitted (council reserve, not a national park).
Hickory St, Dorrigo NSW 2453
Safety notes
Do not jump from the falls — multiple fatalities have occurred. Rocks at the base are slippery. Supervise children at the cliff edge.
Gear notes
Swimmers and grippy shoes if walking to the base. Insect repellent in summer.
