Cascades Trail

Upper North Shore, NSW

Shared 3.2km fire trail from St Ives or Davidson down to rockpools and small waterfalls at the junction of Middle Harbour and Frenchs creeks.

About this place

Cascades trail is the workhorse of Garigal National Park: a medium fire trail used by walkers, mountain bikers and horse riders. From Douglas Street near Acron Oval, St Ives, or Stone Parade, Davidson, it drops through red gum, bloodwood and scribbly gum to a series of waterfalls, rock platforms and pools where Middle Harbour Creek meets Frenchs Creek. A 1928 sandstone wall remnants sit on the first pool. Swimming is not recommended because of urban runoff. Link Lower Cambourne, Heath and Bare Creek trails for a longer loop.

Access & getting there

St Ives: exit Mona Vale Road onto Douglas Street to Gwyn Close / Acron Oval. Davidson: Stone Parade about 100m before Barney Place. Street parking. Park is open 6am-6.30pm (8pm daylight saving).
