Bobbin Head

Upper North Shore, NSW

Ku-ring-gai Chase's main picnic precinct — waterfront barbecues, a mangrove boardwalk, visitor centre and Empire Marina on Cowan Creek.

About this place

Bobbin Head is the busiest, best-equipped corner of Ku-ring-gai Chase: lawns and shelters on Cowan Creek, gas barbecues, playground, accessible toilets and the historic visitor centre in the old Bobbin Inn. Stroll the mangrove boardwalk, hire a boat or eat at Empire Marina. It is also the trailhead for Gibberagong, Birrawanna and the Sphinx loop. Two sealed roads in — Bobbin Head Road from Turramurra or Ku-ring-gai Chase Road from Mount Colah. Kalkari Discovery Centre is on the Mount Colah approach.

Access & getting there

Bobbin Head Road via North Turramurra, or Ku-ring-gai Chase Road via Mount Colah. Park entry $12 per vehicle. Accessible parking near the inn, station shelter and playground. Visitor centre 10am-4pm daily (9am-4pm in summer school holidays), closed Christmas Day.

688 Ku-ring-gai Chase Rd, Mount Colah NSW 2079

Safety notes

Supervise children near the water. Boat and paddle traffic on Cowan Creek. No solid-fuel fires.
