Bantry Bay picnic area
Garigal National Park, NSW
A walk-in Middle Harbour picnic flat in Garigal NP below the old explosives magazines, reached via Timbergetters or The Bay Track.
About this place
Bantry Bay picnic area sits on the western shore of Bantry Bay in Garigal National Park, a walk-in (or boat-in) clearing beneath the historic explosives magazine complex. OSM maps Bantry Bay Picnic Area on The Bay Track at Forestville. Access is on foot from Seaforth or Forestville via Timbergetters Track, Bluff Track or The Bay Track — there is no public carpark on the bay itself. The magazines are a late-nineteenth-century industrial relic; the picnic flat is the reward after the descent. Combine with the Bantry Bay Aboriginal engraving site on the Engravings Track if you walk the longer loop. Carry water; facilities are limited.
Access & getting there
No drive-in access. Walk from Seaforth (Timbergetters Track) or Forestville (The Bay Track / Bluff Track). Park 6am–6.30pm (8pm daylight saving). No dogs. Boat access possible on Middle Harbour.
