Audley Picnic Area
Royal National Park, NSW
The historic heart of Royal National Park — weir, boatshed, lawns and the Hacking River, 35km from the CBD.
About this place
Audley is where Sydneysiders have been picnicking since the 19th century, and it still works. Kangaroo Creek meets the Hacking at the weir, rowboats hire from the heritage boatshed, and grassy flats spread under the trees. It is also the park's visitor-centre hub and the start of Lady Carrington Drive. Come for a slow day rather than a peak-bag: hire a boat, walk a short trail, eat at the Dance Hall cafe. The causeway floods after heavy rain and closes the road through to Bundeena.
Access & getting there
Park entry fee. Enter via Farnell Avenue from Loftus or McKell Avenue from Waterfall. Visitor centre open 8.30am-4.30pm. Causeway can flood.
2 Lady Carrington Dr, Audley NSW 2232
Safety notes
Weir and river currents after rain. Road closure when the causeway floods. Unsupervised water.
