About this place
America Bay walking track is a 1.8km return from a small gravel carpark on West Head Road down a sandstone ridgeline to Cowan Water. A short side track near the start leads to Aboriginal rock engravings on a sandstone shelf. The main track drops through scribbly gum and bloodwood to a creek, then a rock platform where a small waterfall spills toward America Bay. It feels remote for a walk an hour from the CBD. Rock-hop the creek after rain.
Access & getting there
Follow West Head Road off McCarrs Creek Road. Small gravel carpark at the track start. Park entry $12 per vehicle. Gates close overnight.

Creek crossing after rain. Uneven rock platform at the bay. Limited mobile coverage. Do not touch engravings.
