Aboriginal Heritage Walk
Northern Beaches, NSW
West Head's Resolute loop past Red Hands Cave, rock engravings and an occupation shelter, finishing at West Head lookout.
About this place
Also called the Resolute loop, this 4.4km circuit is the best single walk for Aboriginal heritage in Ku-ring-gai Chase. From Resolute picnic area you reach Red Hands Cave in about 10 minutes — ochre hand stencils of the Garrigal people. Further on are sandstone engravings and a historic occupation shelter. The loop continues to West Head lookout then back via Resolute Track, with an optional drop to Resolute Beach. Do not touch the art. A short 0.6km return to Red Hands Cave is enough if you only have time for the cave.
Access & getting there
