Pre Chrismas Wilderness Multiday Hike @ Barrington Tops (54km, 3 days)
About this event
This is a multiday hike over the october labour day long weekend. We will be hiking through the wilderness of Barrington Tops National Park over 3 days (2 nights). We will park our cars and start at Williams River Day Use Area (2WD accessible up till here), where we will also finish here. It is about 2.5-3 hours drive from the city and we will arrange car pooling. Distance of this hike is around 54km over 2 days and 2,000 metres elevation. There are few optional side trips after setting up camp. We will meet at the town of Dungog at a cafe (tbd) (40 mins out from Barrington Tops), before driving to the start together. Preparations You would need to bring all of your overnight walking gear, e.g. pack, tent, sleeping bag / mat etc as well as food. Hopefully water won’t be too much of a problem (we will let you know) but will need to be treated! Description: Day 1 – 17km (hardest day, elev 1200m) Day 2 – 19km (mostly flat) Day 3 – 17km (descent) Some place of interest we will visit include Rocky Crossing, Carey’s Peak, Mount Barrington. We will be camping somewhere up there, I will find a decent campground.
