About this event

A very, very long, beautiful coastal walk on which you can enjoy an extended portion of the shoreline covering a vast expanse of Sydney’s North Shore, culminating with a walk across the Sydney Harbour Bridge to The Rocks. This will be great training for those intending to do the Oxfam Trailwalker and will be something to build up towards. Please only sign up if you’re confident, or at the very least highly motivated, to complete the entire thing. Distance: 70km Elevation: 1,200m Pace: 5 – 6km p/h Terrain: Relatively flat with some steepish sections Getting there: Catch the B1 to Mona Vale (arrives 6.03am) and then make sure you are on the 199 Bus departing Mona Vale at 6.07am and arriving at our meeting point at 6.36am Early exits: Many and frequent, however we will be doing our best to complete the whole thing! Map & Additional Info: This is the approx route we will be following –https://www.alltrails.com/explore/map/wed-21-apr-2021-02-43-9c779f5 -Total Planned breaks – 1hr 50m, see approx itinerary below: 9.15am Mona Vale SLSC (15min) 10.45am Collaroy SLSC (5min) 11.45am Dee Why Water Crossing (15min) – break here to clean and tape our feet 1.30pm Manly Mall (30min) 4.45pm Balmoral Beach (15min) 8.00pm Kurraba Point (15min) – east some roast chicken! 8.30pm Milson Park Toilet (5min) 9.15pm Finish! -Finish time is approx and we may finish later -Please be aware of the planned stops and duration. If you need to make additional stops, for whatever reason, you will need to catch up with the pack! -The pace will vary throughout the day and we will aim to walk faster when it’s cooler, particularly in the morning, when we will aim to walk around 6 km p/hr, so if you think that could be a challenge I would suggest doing some plyometrics training so you can keep up -For the final main stop we will drop by my apt as the local shops will be closed – please let me know in advance what snacks you would like me to organise for you Preparations: Bring some water (you can also refill along the way), wear sensible walking shoes, a hat & sun screen. Plenty of ‘energy-giving’ consumables and a head torch. Also suggest bringing tape and band aids for your feet as well as spare socks. Small towel to dry feet after water crossing at Dee Why
