Multiday Hike @ Alpine National Park (63km (3700m+ elev), 4 days)
About this event
This is a multiday hike over the december holidays, post christmas. We will be hiking through the wilderness of Alpine National Park in Victoria over 4 days (3 nights). We will park our cars and start near view point on Howitt Road, where we will also finish here. It is about 2.5 hour drive from Maffra, Victoria where we will meet. Distance of this hike is around 63km over 4 days and 3,700 metres elevation. There are few optional side trips after setting up camp. We will cover around 17km a day with a decent amount of elevelation. We will meet at the town of Maffra at a cafe (tbd), before driving to the start together. Preparations You would need to bring all of your overnight walking gear, e.g. pack, tent, sleeping bag / mat etc as well as food. Hopefully water won’t be too much of a problem (we will let you know) but will need to be treated! Description: Day 1 – 16km Day 2 – 16km Day 3 – 16km Day 4 – 15km Some place of interest we will visit include Mt Speculation, Mount Despair, The Razor & THhe Viking. We will be backcountry camping. No gratuity required for this event Now that the location is confirmed, if you want to join and can commit to come please let me know and I’ll move you from the waitlist to “going”. You will need to have done at least one multiday hike with me or Rob. Suggestion is to drive down on the 26th of December from Sydney (9hr drive), and stay at Stratford or Maffra on the 26th night. Also suggest to stay around here for the 30th. There will also be a hike on the 1st of Jan 2022 up Hotham Heights (using the 31st as a rest day).
